Wild Thistle
There is nothing tame or cultivated
about a thistle. Have you ever attempted to remove a thistle
plant from your garden? I have tried: I cut it; I dug it; I
dug some more; I poured boiling water on it; I poured vinegar
on it. Come the following spring, inevitably, little spiky green
shoots would appear where the thistle, that I thought to be
destroyed the previous year, used to be. After many years of
attempting to remove these spiky green-folks I actually studied
them, made a drawing and carved the image you'll find here.
This is my testament to the indomitable wild thistle!
