Fidelio and Figaro Velvet by JB Martin
48 inches wide
Dry Cleanable
All velvet orders are neatly flat folded for shipping.

Many people in the last few months have had concerns about their Fidelio Velvet coming to them folded. Unfortuantely there is no other way to get it to you. The metal frames it comes on are heavy and there is only one per bolt. Since the average bolt gets cut between 10 and 15 times there simply aren't enough frames to go around and they would add considerably to the shipping charge. So I flat fold the velvet. I try to make sure that with each order I send directions for removing wrinkles.

I have been working with Fidelio and Figaro for about 15 years and I have a big bin of scraps which I use very often to make my bags and capes and jackets. These scraps, some many years old, are not neatly folded and I have always been able to get the wrinkles out. Below you will find a photographic description of my method. This is the same piece of velvet throughout the steps and your pieces will not be this wrinkled.

Step 1:
Get your piece of velvet out of the box. (I recommend cutting it down close to the size you need. If not possible find a big clear table top.)

Step 2:
Place the velvet fuzzy side down on the table spreading it out as much as possible. I sprayed this with water to hold it down.

Step 3:
Mist the back of the velvet with water. (Yes the velvet is dry clean only, but only because the agitation in the machine really messes up the nap and makes it flat.)

Step 4:
Mush the water around until the entire surface is uniformly wet. Don't worry about making it too wet - it will be fine. Larger pieces will need to be done in sections.

Step 5:
Let it dry completely.

Step 6:
Your velvet should be wrinkle free and ready for use. The whole process usually takes about 15 minutes. A little longer if you really got it super wet.
